Dubbing, Adaptation and Translation for Film and Television

Executive Education course with a total duration of 132 hours. This is a part-time course, meaning it is held on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

OVERVIEW

Programme Director: Prof. Gianni Canova
Coordinators: Carlo Cosolo – Gian Paolo Gasperi

For better or for worse, people know what dubbing is. Whenever we see a film or television show, we recognize from the actors, settings or style that the work has undergone a process of localization. However, in the majority of cases, what we don’t know is how that process actually plays out—what its phases are, and what kind of professionals are behind each of those phases. The goal of this course is to provide students with everything they need to enter the profession of film and television adaptation.

The course will not focus so much on theory but rather on practice, with constant exercises in addition to meetings with professionals from the field. The goal is for students to become professionals themselves, with very specific training that will enable them to enter the world of work—and work at a high level—upon completion of the course.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Anyone who holds a degree or is about to obtain a degree in film studies, communications, languages, interpreting or applied linguistics;
  • Professionals in the film industry who are looking to specialize in this field;
  • Professionals in the world of communication, translation and/or interpreting;
