Music Publishing and Production

One-year Masters Degree 12 months – Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 60 ECTS

This masters degree programme provides students with all of the tools needed to undertake a professional career in the fields of music publishing and production (printing, recording, digital, audiovisual, live, musical instruments). To that end, the programme provides both theoretical and practical knowledge so that students can deal with the various professional aspects that come with production and promotion in the world of music publishing. In addition, it offers numerous career opportunities at Italian and multinational companies. The programme includes extensive study of the main music genres, as well as courses on Music Economy, Publishing and Record Production, Copyright, Modern Languages and Computer Science, and the relationship between music and media.


This masters degree is intended for those who hold an undergraduate (or postgraduate) degree and who are interested in music, and/or those who hold a first-cycle academic diploma from an AFAM-accredited conservatory.


  • Musicology and Ethnomusicology (classical music, jazz, pop, ethnic music, music for films and media)
    Academic disciplines (SSD): L-ART/07 and L-ART/08; 14 ECTS, divided as follows: Musicology 4 ECTS;
    Ethnomusicology 10 ECTS
  • History and Practice of Music Publishing
    Academic discipline: SPS/08, 5 ECTS

  • The Music Economy

  • Case Studies
    The programme will include conferences led by experts and business executives, which shall provide the basis for exploration and analysis on the part of students, 3 ECTS
  • Simulation Lab
    2 ECTS               
    (total credits: 42 ECTS)
  • Final examination
    Students must carry out a final project on a topic that has been agreed upon with faculty members beforehand, and which will be presented and discussed before a commission of faculty members from the programme, 3 ECTS


The training provided by this masters degree offers numerous career opportunities at Italian and multinational companies. Furthermore, the programme trains students to take on the following professional roles: Music Publisher, Music Producer and Promoter (publishing, record production, web), New Media Marketing Manager, Audiovisual Music Production Expert, Assistant Record Producer, Concert Organizer.
